Black Cherry And Walnut Cake

3 eggs
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup black pitted cherries
1/2 cup black walnuts or English walnuts

Beat eggs until lemon colored; add sugar and continue to beat until well blended. Sift in flour, baking powder and salt; fold in. Add almond and vanilla extracts. Place in two 8-inch layer pans; sprinkle with cherries and walnuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. May appear to look like a cake that has fallen. Ice with whipped cream and garnish with cherries.
